Construction & Maintenance Technician I
Job Summary:
This position performs company field operations including manual labor duties necessary to accomplish installation, repair, construction and maintenance of natural gas distribution systems.
Essential Functions:
- Installs, repairs or replaces steel/plastic pipes.
- First Responder assistance in emergency situations.
- Able to locate gas lines.
- Loads and unloads required equipment, tools, and supplies from trucks. Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Requires a high school diploma or GED.
- Requires 0-2 years of relevant experience in construction, installation and maintenance of gas distribution systems.
- Able to obtain Class A CDL and Welding Certification within 2 years of employment.

Conditions:
Physical Requirements:
- Able to use a variety of hand tools and power tools
- Oral communication person to person, over equipment, or mobile phone.
- Able to sit, stand, walk, knee, or crouch for extended periods of time.
- Able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects exerting 50 pounds.
- Able to operate a motor vehicle and the ability to enter and exit vehicle unassisted.
- Able to wear personal protection safety equipment.
Working Conditions:
- Required to participate in Delta Utilities Emergency Operation Plan (EOP).
- Able to handle emergency situations, including possible exposure to gaseous atmosphere.
- Able to respond to emergency calls and/or callouts and occasionally return to work while off duty.
- Able to work regular hours occasional overtime, and rotating shifts, if required.
- Able to work in both an office environment and outside field locations including able to tolerate exposure to all weather conditions; travel overnight occasionally.
