Operations Supervisor

Job Summary: 

To supervise and direct the operation and maintenance of the distribution system in accordance with established plans, policies and proceduresProvide our customers with a safe and adequate energy supply.  Coach and develop the Field Operations Team ensuring desired individual performance, desired team performance and maintain a cohesive team environment.  Participate as an effective team member of Field Operations that strategically supports company and corporate goals and objectives.

Essential Functions:  

  • Observes, coaches, develops employees and improves individual and team performance by creating an environment that allows individuals and teams to contribute to their maximum potential.   

  • Conducts timely and effective performance discussions. 

  • Upholds the corporate affirmative action commitment and ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws. 

  • Implements Field Operation’s strategic planMonitors plan results to ensure the highest level of customer driven, safe, cost effective, quality results that assure compliance with all internal and external codes, policy, procedures and standards.   

  • Participates in Field Operations development of department goals, expense/capital budgets and collective bargaining contract administrationParticipates in a manner that supports department, company and corporate objectives, values and services. 

  • Coordinates fleet maintenance and maintains adequate supply of materials, equipment, tools, and supplies to complete work. 

  • Cost effectively manages Field Operation activities to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.  Initiates regular contact with internal and external customers to understand their needs and expectations and build positive relationsResolves customer complaints in a timely and constructive manner. 

  • Implements and administers policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for our customers, employees and the general publicIncludes supervising emergency situations, assuming weekly night callout as required, promoting safety awareness to employees and assuring the availability of safety equipment in order to ensure the customer an adequate and safe energy supply. 

  • Must report/respond to jobsites when emergencies are occurring any time of day, night or weekend.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Requires a minimum of a high school diploma.

  • Minimum of 7 years in natural gas operations.

  • Minimum of 2 years in some type of leadership role.

Conditions:

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to exert physical effort on a daily basis.

  • Able to operate office machines including telephone, photocopier, fax machine, calculator, laptop, mobile phone, etc.

  • Able to operate a motor vehicle, including ability to enter and exit the vehicle unassisted.

Working Conditions: 

  • Required to participate in Delta Utilities Emergency Operation Plan (EOP). 

  • Able to be included in random drug screen pool required for DOT drivers and DOT safety sensitive position.

  • Able to be on call-out duty on weeknights, call-out duty on weekends, and respond to emergency situations. 

  • Able to be available for shift supervisor duties and rotation of supervised crews and areas of responsibility. 

  • Able to work indoors in an office environment and outdoors.
