Position overview

Delta Utilities is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Supply Chain to oversee the supply chain function of the organization, ensuring effective operations ranging from sourcing through delivery and forward demand management. This is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.  

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the utilities sector and a strong background in supply chain management. This individual will also ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations while optimizing the supply chain to meet the company's strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the supply chain strategy that best aligns with company goals
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the supply chain team, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic objectives
  • Oversee the end-to-end supply chain process, including sourcing, procurement, logistics, warehousing, and inventory management
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors; negotiate contracts and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality materials, evaluating and selecting suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and standards in all procurement activities
  • Oversee the logistics and distribution network, ensuring the efficient movement of materials and products from suppliers to the warehouse
  • Optimize transportation and distribution processes to reduce costs and improve service levels
  • Coordinate with warehouse teams to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of materials
  • Develop and manage forward-demand planning processes, ensuring consistency with company needs and market trends
  • Oversee inventory management to ensure optimal stock levels, reducing excess inventory, and minimizing stockouts
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance forecasting accuracy and inventory turnover
  • Ensure all supply chain activities comply with relevant utility industry regulations and standards
  • Develop and manage the supply chain budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and identifying cost-saving opportunities to achieve financial targets
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track supply chain performance
  • Develop and manage the organizations supplier diversity program

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field
  • At least seven to ten years of relevant experience in supply chain management, preferably within the utility industry or an equally regulated environment, with at least five years of managerial experience
  • In depth knowledge of supply chain processes, including sourcing, procurement, logistics, and demand planning
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to perform occasional travel to supplier sites, warehouses, etc.

In February 2024, Delta Utilities entered into an agreement with CenterPoint Energy to acquire its Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas businesses, which currently serve approximately 381,000 customers. Once the transactions are complete, Entergy's Louisiana natural gas operations and CenterPoint Energy's Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas systems will be operated by Delta Utilities.
