Position overview

Delta Utilities is seeking an experienced Manager of Compensation and Benefits to design, implement, manage, and optimize compensation and benefit the organization’s compensation and benefits programs. This is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.  

The ideal candidate will have experience working with start-ups and experience in HR analytics. This individual will ensure that all programs align with the company’s strategic objectives, remain competitive within the industry, and comply with all regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, this role will work closely with HR to attract, retain, and motivate talent through total rewards strategies. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage the company's compensation structure, including salary scales, incentive programs, and performance-based rewards
  • Ability to proficiently implement various aspects of compensation structure, including mapping legal entities, company locations, job codes, pay groups, pay codes, work groups, department codes, leveling, and file structures 
  • Oversee the administration of all employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement plans, retiree benefits, and other ancillary benefits; manage benefit plan audits, financial statements, and filings
  • Conduct regular market analysis to analyze trends and ensure the company’s benefits and compensation practices are competitive and aligned with industry standards
  • Manage the annual compensation review process, including salary adjustments, promotions, and bonuses
  • Evaluate and recommend changes to benefits offerings to maintain competitiveness and meet employee needs
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations related to benefits, such as ERISA, COBRA, and ACA
  • Provide guidance and support to employees regarding their compensation and benefits options, educating them about compensation and benefits programs to make informed decisions
  • Lead the annual open enrollment process, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for all employees
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to compensation and benefits, including FLSA, DOL regulations, and IRS guidelines
  • Stay updated on changes in compensation and benefits laws and regulations, adjusting programs as needed
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports for all compensation and benefits programs, presenting reports to senior management as needed
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and consultants, including benefits providers, insurance carriers, and compensation survey providers; negotiate contracts and ensure vendors deliver quality service
  • Lead and develop a team of HR professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and opportunities for professional growth
  • Manage the compensation and benefits budget, ensuring effective use of resources

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of five to seven years of experience in compensation and benefits management, with at least two years in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of compensation structures, benefits administration, and relevant regulations
  • Experience with compensation and benefits software and HRIS systems
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills
  • Professional certification (e.g., CCP, CEBS) is preferred
