Director, Technology Operations
Position overview
Delta Utilities is seeking a Technology Operations Director to lead the internalization of technical architecting and strategic decision-making for the company’s IT infrastructure. This role will focus on reducing reliance on external vendors by bringing these functions in-house while also managing and leading the design and implementation of complex infrastructure projects.
The ideal candidate will balance strategic oversight with hands-on management of infrastructure solutions to support the company’s long-term operational goals. It is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the technical architecture and strategic decisions related to IT infrastructure and systems, ensuring they align with Delta Utilities' business objectives
- Lead the design, planning, and execution of complex IT infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet performance, security, and scalability requirements
- Architect, design, implement and manage the cloud infrastructure and environments
- Collaborate with external partners, including vendors like Accenture, while assuming full responsibility for technical decisions and directing their activities in the design and implementation process
- Reduce external costs by developing in-house capabilities for architecting and strategic planning while maintaining efficient vendor relationships for execution
- Act as the technology liaison between IT, operations, and other business units, ensuring seamless integration and alignment on technology-driven initiatives
- Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the company’s infrastructure remains competitive
- Ensure the company’s infrastructure systems are designed with a focus on security, risk mitigation, and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Maintain responsibility for our information technology and operations technology networks across a national footprint
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology (IT), computer science, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in IT infrastructure, technology operations, or related areas, with experience in utilities, energy, or large-scale industrial sectors
- Proven track record in managing and leading the architecture, design, and implementation of complex IT infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated experience transitioning technical and strategic roles in-house from third-party vendors.
- Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills, with a focus on collaboration and cross-functional coordination
- Familiarity with managing external vendors like Accenture in a strategic partnership context

Headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, the utility will serve nearly 600,000 customers and become one of the leading natural gas providers in Louisiana and Mississippi and among the top 40 providers in the United States.
In 2023, Entergy announced that it had entered into an agreement with Delta Utilities to sell its Louisiana gas distribution business. The natural gas utility currently serves more than 200,000 customers across East Baton Rouge and Orleans parishes. In February 2024, Delta Utilities entered into an agreement with CenterPoint Energy to acquire its Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas businesses, which currently serve approximately 381,000 customers. Once the transactions are complete, Entergy's Louisiana natural gas operations and CenterPoint Energy's Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas systems will be operated by Delta Utilities.
