Manager, Fleet Services
Position overview
Delta Utilities is seeking an experienced Manager of Fleet Services to oversee the management and maintenance of the company’s vehicle fleet. This role will support the organization’s operational needs through effective management of both a team and the fleet. This is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.
This individual will be responsible for ensuring the availability, safety, and efficiency of all fleet vehicles, and managing fleet procurement, budgeting, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the fleet, ensuring vehicles are available, maintained, and operating efficiently to support the company’s operational needs
- Develop and implement fleet management strategies, including fleet specification and design, vehicle acquisition, utilization, maintenance, and replacement
- Ensure that all vehicles meet safety and environmental standards, including emissions regulations
- Manage regular maintenance and repairs to ensure fleet reliability and minimize downtime and work with internal teams and external vendors to coordinate repair services and manage warranties
- Develop and manage the fleet services budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources
- Monitor and control fleet-related expenses, including fuel, maintenance, and repairs
- Analyze fleet costs and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to fleet operations, including DOT regulations and vehicle inspections
- Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures for fleet operations, including driver training and vehicle safety inspections, conducting audits to ensure fleet safety and compliance
- Manage vehicle leases, titles, registrations, tags, warranties, recalls and all applicable inspections
- Manage fleet disposal including end-of-life vehicle disposal, auction or lease returns
- Manage relationships with vehicle manufacturers, leasing companies, fuel providers, and maintenance vendors; negotiate contracts and service agreements to ensure the best value and service quality for the company
- Monitor fleet performance metrics, such as fuel efficiency, maintenance costs, and vehicle utilization, to identify trends and make data-driven decisions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all fleet activities, including vehicle inventories, maintenance histories, and compliance documentation
- Lead and manage the Fleet Services team, promoting safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement within the team
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum of five to seven years of experience in fleet management, with at least three years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Strong knowledge of fleet management practices, vehicle maintenance, and regulatory compliance
- Experience with fleet management software and data analysis tools
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work in an office environment as well as in field locations, including vehicle maintenance facilities
- Ability to conduct vehicle inspections, which may involve bending, lifting, and working in various weather conditions
- Occasional travel to other company locations and vendor sites may be required
