Contract Analyst

Position Overview

The contract analyst plays a vital role in managing analyzing and ensuring compliance of contracts that support Delta Utilities’ gas operations. The position involves drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, tracking performance, market and bid analytics, supporting stakeholders and category leaders in operational and strategic goals.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills, a solid understanding of management best practices and the ability to work collaboratively with legal, procurement and operational teams. They thrive in a startup setting, bringing adaptability, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities with a proactive approach.   

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts for goods, services and construction projects to support gas utility operations.
  • Collaborate with legal and procurement teams to ensure contracts comply with company policies, regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Manage the end to end contract lifecycle including amendments, renewals and terminations.
  • Identify potential risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Analyze contract performance metrics to ensure cost effectiveness.
  • Report on and analyze contract status and needs throughout the lifecycle to ensure continued availability for operations.
  • Assist Category Leaders as needed in analytics on market data, and large bid/rate comparisons.
  • Work closely with engineering, operations and procurement teams to align contract deliverables with project requirements.
  • Support the team in creation and maintenance of reports, PowerPoints, and training documents as needed for all aspects of the supply chain team.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for the supply chain team.
  • Recommend improvements to streamline contract workflows and enhance efficiency

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, legal studies or a related field.
  • 1 or more years experience in contract management, procurement or other business analytics role.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to contract management and other systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, the utility will serve nearly 600,000 customers and become one of the leading natural gas providers in Louisiana and Mississippi, as well as one of the top 40 providers in the United States.

In 2023, Entergy announced that it had entered into an agreement with Delta Utilities to sell its Louisiana gas distribution business. The natural gas utility currently serves more than 200,000 customers across East Baton Rouge and Orleans parishes. In February 2024, Delta Utilities entered into an agreement with CenterPoint Energy to acquire its Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas businesses, which currently serve approximately 381,000 customers. Once the transactions are complete, Entergy's Louisiana natural gas operations and CenterPoint Energy's Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas systems will be operated by Delta Utilities.
