Operator, Meter Shop

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Delta Utilities is seeking an Operator, Meter Shop, who is responsible for tracking meter inventory levels.

Please Note: This position could be hired as a level I or II depending on qualifications and experience.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure that all pre/post installation in-tests are completed per regulatory guidelines.
  • Palletize meter for shipment to refurbishing vendor.
  • Badge new meter/regulator for installation. Make minor repair to meter/regulator equipment.
  • Receives material from vendors, including unloads trucks and inspects material for discrepancies between order and delivery. 
  • Ships material to other locations; prepares material and documents; maintains necessary logs and inventory records.
  • Monitor and track daily inventory levels. Determine the appropriate min/max levels for each inventory item. Process material receipts/transfers within 24 hours.
  • Document all activities to ensure SOX compliance, paperwork is adequate for future process improvement and strengthen litigation/legislative/regulatory cases. Support activities to increase revenue/cost recoveries and reduce service diversion. Participate in continuous surveillance programs to find and fix conflicts before they escalate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

  • High School Diploma or GED 

 

Minimum experience required of the position

  • Level I: No experience necessary. 
  • Level II: Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in warehousing operations supporting the gas distribution system, including safe and accurate operation of tools and equipment.

  • An ability to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner and understand the importance of delivering a high level of customer service.

Desired:

  • Knowledge of ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
  • Knowledgeable in MS Office software (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of Delta’s Customer Service policies
  • Familiar with service territory area.

 

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Class D (CDL) or Chauffer’s license will be required within the first 6 months of employment.


Note: As a safety sensitive position, compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) drug and alcohol regulations is required, including but not limited to pre-employment drug testing and background screening.
