Senior Analyst, FP&A (Capital Expenditures)

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Delta Utilities is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Financial Analyst to join our finance team with a dedicated focus on Capital Expenditures (CapEx). In this high-impact role, you will lead the financial planning, reporting, and analysis of capital investments across the company. You will partner closely with project managers, operations, engineering, and accounting to ensure disciplined capital management and alignment with strategic investment goals.

This role requires strong financial acumen, project-based reporting experience, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead the tracking, reporting, and forecasting of capital project spending, including monthly variance analysis vs. budget and forecast.
  • Provide actionable insights and commentary on budget-to-actual variances across capital initiatives.
  • Drive the annual capital planning process, collaborating with business units to develop project budgets and multi-year investment plans.
  • Review and evaluate project funding requests, business cases, and investment justifications to support strategic and financial objectives.
  • Prepare detailed reporting and dashboards for leadership and capital steering committees.
  • Ensure proper capitalization, asset classification, and compliance with internal accounting policies and GAAP.
  • Partner with Accounting to support accurate monthly and quarterly CapEx accruals and fixed asset reconciliation.
  • Enhance and maintain CapEx reporting models, tools, and templates to support automation and transparency.
  • Support long-range planning by modeling future capital investment needs and return profiles.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field such as Math, Data Analytics or Statistics.
  • A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.


Minimum experience required of the position

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or accounting, with a focus on expense management.


Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities preferred of the position

  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and planning tools (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, Hyperion) preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a strong attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Comfortable managing large datasets and distilling insights for non-finance stakeholders.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to operate a motor vehicle, including the ability to enter and exit vehicle unassisted.
  • Able to perform on-site inspections.
  • Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop.
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Able to operate a copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and other miscellaneous office equipment.
  • Able to exert up to 10 Lbs. of force occasionally, and /or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push or otherwise move objects.
