Senior Analyst, FP&A (Operations & Maintenance | Expense Reporting)

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Delta Utilities is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Analyst to join our FP&A team with a dedicated focus on Operations & Maintenance (O&M) expense reporting & analysis. This role will play a critical part in providing financial visibility into monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date actuals versus budget and forecast for O&M expenses, supporting both financial accuracy and operational decision-making.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in accruals, variance analysis, and financial reporting, and thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.


ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Monthly, quarterly, and YTD variance analysis for O&M expenses compared to budget and forecast, identifying drivers and partnering with stakeholders to explain deviations.
  • Prepare and distribute recurring and ad hoc O&M expense reports for business unit leaders, highlighting actionable insights.
  • Develop and maintain monthly accruals to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Support the monthly close process, working closely with accounting to align actuals with forecasted spending.
  • Assist in the preparation of forecast and budget cycles, ensuring alignment with departmental expectations and corporate targets.
  • Maintain and enhance financial models and tools used to forecast and monitor O&M costs.
  • Collaborate with operations, accounting, procurement, and other departments to improve expense visibility, accuracy, and accountability.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and more efficient financial reporting practices.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field such as Math, Data Analytics or Statistics.
  • Master’s or MBA a plus


Minimum experience required of the position

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or accounting, with a focus on expense management.


Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities preferred of the position

  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting and operational expense forecasting.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and planning tools (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, Hyperion) preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a strong attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Comfortable managing large datasets and distilling insights for non-finance stakeholders.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to operate a motor vehicle, including the ability to enter and exit vehicle unassisted.
  • Able to perform on-site inspections.
  • Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop.
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Able to operate a copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and other miscellaneous office equipment.
  • Able to exert up to 50 Lbs. of force occasionally, and /or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push or otherwise move objects.
