JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Perform SCADA, Metering, Odorization & Regulating Functions of the Gas Field Operations Group according to Office of Pipeline (OPS) Safety Requirements. Provide Field Operations expertise (direction and support) to Engineering, Construction, Maintenance and Contractor Crews / Groups for design, construction, and maintenance projects.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshoot and replace/repair gas metering and pressure regulating devices.
  • Test, calibrate and maintain gas metering, regulating, pressure recording and SCADA devices.
  • Complete all documentation completely and accurately using paper and electronic media.
  • Analyze data collected and determine remedial action needed to correct problems or potential problems.
  • Perform all tasks within time and budget guidelines.
  • Utilize Gas Operations computer application systems: work management programs and MS Office programs to help plan, schedule and document work.
  • Assist with the evaluation and replacement of gas facilities (regulators, odorization, metering and SCADA equipment).
  • Respond to Emergencies, after hour callout, weekends and holidays

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of transmitter operation and calibration procedures

Minimum experience required of the position

  • None
  • Preferred: 3-5 years natural gas industry experience 

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  • Ability to interpret and understand equipment installation and repair procedures, Equipment diagrams, maps & records.
  • Fundamental knowledge of metering and pressure regulating principles. Fundamental background in basic electricity and electronics and ability to operate various electronic/technical equipment and instruments.
  • Knowledge of Company Safety and Work policies.
  • Knowledge of Pipeline Safety Regulations 49 CFR Part 192 related to Regulating, Odorization & SCADA Equipment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivator.
  • PC skills and understanding of computers.
  • Have and maintain a current/valid driver's license.
  • Ability to make decisions in high pressure situations alone.
  • Must be available/able to work by himself/herself on nights, weekends and holidays with no special consideration.
  • Subject to 24-hour callout.
  • Must reside within 45 road miles of the reporting location.    

 Any certificates, licenses, etc. preferred for the position

  • Class D with Class A CDL preferred driver’s license or with the expectation of obtaining one within the first 6-months of employment.

Desired Qualifications/Experience

  • Previous pneumatic and electronic instrumentation experience
  • Experience with gas measurement configuration of flow computers and remote terminal units (RTUs)
  • Understanding of different types of flow meters and AGA flow calculations
  • Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and communication protocols between systems and remote measurement points (Modbus, Fisher ROC, RS-232, RS-485, etc)
  • Knowledge of gas industry specific software (Fisher Roclink, Daniels Meter Link, Eagle Field Manager and other measurement specific software applications)
  • Understanding of basic AC/DC circuits analysis. Knowledge of installing electrical conduit/wiring.
  • Knowledge of control systems and different flow control types (pressure and flow)
  • Knowledge of pipeline safety regulations
  • Willingness to cross train in other functions of the Field Operations work group

Physical Requirements

  • Able to operate a motor vehicle, including the ability to enter and exit vehicle unassisted.
  • Able to perform on-site inspections.
  • Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop.
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Able to operate a copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and other miscellaneous office equipment.
  • Able to exert up to 50 Lbs. of force occasionally, and /or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push or otherwise move objects.

  • Able to be included in random drug screen pool required for DOT drivers and DOT safety sensitive positions.
  • May be required to remain in the service area during emergency events and assume responsibilities assigned by the company to aide in restoration efforts.
