Lead Analyst, Revenue Assurance

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

The Lead Analyst, Revenue Assurance is responsible for ensuring accurate billing, compliance with SOX controls, and safeguarding revenue streams through proactive audits and monitoring. This role oversees daily bill audits, manages special contract billing, summary billing, and implements controls to prevent revenue leakage. The position requires strong analytical skills, regulatory knowledge, and leadership to drive process improvements and maintain financial integrity.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform daily bill audits to validate accuracy of charges, rates, and meter reads.
  • Manage and monitor special contract accounts, ensuring compliance with negotiated terms and accurate billing.
  • Oversee summary billing processes for large commercial and industrial customers.
  • Implement and maintain SOX controls related to billing and revenue assurance activities.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in billing, metering, and revenue reporting.
  • Develop and maintain audit trails for regulatory and internal compliance.
  • Collaborate with Billing, Credit, Collections, and IT teams to resolve systemic issues and prevent revenue leakage.
  • Prepare and analyze revenue assurance reports, identifying trends and recommending corrective actions.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation and data.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance billing accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Train and mentor team members on revenue assurance practices, compliance standards, and system updates.
  • Participate in system testing, upgrades, and implementation of new billing and audit tools.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, related field or related field or 4 years of directly related experience in lieu of a degree.

Minimum experience required of the position

  • 7+ years of experience in revenue assurance, billing, or financial compliance
  • Preferred:
    • Experience within the utility or energy sector.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities preferred of the position

  • Proficiency in Oracle Customer Cloud Service (CCS) or similar utility billing systems.
  • Strong understanding of SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of utility rate structures, tariffs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Preferred:
      • Advanced Excel skills; experience with SQL or reporting tools
      • Experience with automation and process improvement initiatives

Physical Requirements

  • Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop.
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Able to operate a copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and other miscellaneous office equipment.
  • Able to exert up to 10 Lbs. of force occasionally, and /or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push or otherwise move objects.
