Sr. Analyst, Payments Remittance

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
The Sr. Analyst, Payment Remittance oversees daily operations for payment processing activities to ensure accurate application of customer payments, timely resolution of delinquent accounts, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role provides process oversight, and analytical support to optimize cash flow, reduce arrears, and enhance customer experience.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Guide team members responsible for payment remittance activities.
- Monitor payment posting accuracy, refunds, reversals, and exception handling.
- Ensure timely reconciliation of payment batches and resolution of discrepancies.
- Develop and maintain compliance with state utility regulations, company policies, and consumer protection laws.
- Prepare and review performance reports for payment accuracy, collection recovery rates, and aging metrics.
- Collaborate with Billing, Credit, and Customer Service teams to resolve escalated issues.
- Identify process gaps and recommend automation or system enhancements to improve efficiency.
- Support internal and external audits by providing accurate payment and collections data.
- Train in best practices, system updates, and regulatory changes.
- Participate in system testing, upgrades, and implementation of new payment and collections technologies.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, related field or 4 years of directly related experience in lieu of a degree.
Minimum experience required of the position
- 4+ years of experience in payment processing, collections, or accounts receivable.
- Preferred:
- experience in utility or energy sector.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities preferred of the position
- Proficiency in Oracle Customer Cloud Service (CCS) or similar utility customer systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of utility regulations, payment processing standards, and collections best practices.
- Preferrred:
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with reporting tools or SQL
- Experience with automation and process improvement initiatives

Physical Requirements
- Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop.
- Able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Able to operate a copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and other miscellaneous office equipment.
- Able to exert up to 10 Lbs. of force occasionally, and /or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push or otherwise move objects.
