Position overview

Delta Utilities is seeking a highly experienced and motivated product owner of operations technology to play a crucial role in managing and supporting all operations and gas supply applications within the organization. This role serves as the primary liaison between business and information technology (IT), ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.

The ideal candidate will have experience leading the implementation and configuration of critical systems, including SCADA, GIS, ETRM, and others, while working closely with external partners and stakeholders. It is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation and support of all operation technology (OT) and gas supply applications, including SCADA, GIS, and ETRM systems, ensuring system reliability, security, and scalability to meet the organization’s operational needs
  • Manage software updates, patches, and system upgrades in coordination with IT
  • Lead the configuration and implementation of OT systems, guiding external partners, such as Accenture, through the process
  • Monitor project timelines, ensuring all milestones are met on schedule and within budget
  • Document and communicate project status, risks, and issues to senior management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders and IT, translating business needs into technical requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technology solutions with business objectives, facilitating effective communication between departments to ensure smooth operation and continuous improvement of OT systems
  • Develop and document processes related to OT and Gas Supply applications, ensuring they align with company policies and industry best practices, train and mentor team members and stakeholders on new processes and system functionalities
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and system optimization within the OT landscape and lead initiatives to enhance system performance and user experience, driving operational efficiency

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in Operations Technology (OT) or a related field, preferably within the utility or similar regulatory industry
  • Proven experience managing SCADA, GIS, ETRM, and other OT systems
  • Strong project management skills, with experience leading large-scale technology implementations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise between technical teams and business stakeholders
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance requirements related to OT systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment or collaborate with external partners

In February 2024, Delta Utilities entered into an agreement with CenterPoint Energy to acquire its Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas businesses, which currently serve approximately 381,000 customers. Once the transactions are complete, Entergy's Louisiana natural gas operations and CenterPoint Energy's Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas systems will be operated by Delta Utilities.
