Specialist, Compensation and Benefits
POSTION OVERVIEW
Delta Utilities is seeking a Compensation and Benefits Specialist to support and administer the company’s employee compensation and benefits programs, ensuring offerings are competitive, compliant, and align with employee needs. This role is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.
This individual will be responsible for administering Delta Utilities’ health, retirement, and wellness programs, serving as a knowledgeable resource for employees, and ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of benefits processes. Additionally, this role will involve supporting the company's compensation structure to ensure a comprehensive approach to total rewards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer and support all employee benefits programs, including health insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), disability, and wellness programs.
- Oversee the open enrollment process, including coordinating with vendors, communicating changes to employees, and ensuring seamless enrollment
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits options, eligibility, and claims processes, providing excellent customer service and timely follow-up. Educate employees on how their compensation package, including benefits, supports their overall financial well-being.
- Liaise with external benefits providers, insurance brokers, and other third-party administrators to resolve issues and optimize service.
- Support benefits communications by preparing materials, presentations, and updates to inform employees of benefits plans and updates. Highlight the value of the total compensation package in communications.
- Assist in designing and implementing wellness programs and initiatives that support employee health and well-being. Integrate wellness programs into the overall compensation strategy to enhance employee satisfaction and retention.
- Track, analyze, and report on benefits utilization, costs, and trends to identify opportunities for program enhancements. Use data to make informed recommendations about compensation and benefits improvements.
- Conduct regular audits of benefits records, including employee eligibility, benefits deductions, and billing to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate with payroll to ensure accurate benefits deductions and reporting. Ensure that compensation adjustments are processed correctly and timely and that all compensation data is accurately reflected in all records.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FLSA, and HIPAA. Ensure that compensation practices adhere to relevant laws and regulations.
- Conduct job analysis, job evaluations and market benchmarking.
- Administer incentive programs.
- Analyze compensation data to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness.
- Provide consultation on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations.
- Prepare and present reports on compensation analytics and trends.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- At least three years of experience in benefits administration, preferably within a utility or similar industry. Experience with compensation management is a plus.
- CCP, CBP or PHR preferred.
- Experience with benefits management systems and HRIS platforms.
- Strong understanding of federal and state regulations governing employee benefits. Knowledge of compensation regulations and best practices.
- Excellent organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex benefits and compensation information to employees.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with benefits or HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, ADP).
